Ballymoney Show 2014
7th June 2014
The weather may not have been favourable but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the packed dairy barn. This is probably the best show and certainly advertises the growth of Holstein Young Breeders in the North Antrim area.
In the holstein maiden heifer class we had Priestland 5446 Shot J Rose placed 1st and Priestland 5417 Braxton Lucia placed 3rd. Priestland 5235 PS James Rose was placed 1st in the milking heifer class. and Priestland 4951 Shot Bedazzle was placed 1st in the cow in milk class. She went on to win the holstein champion, Interbreed dairy champion and champion of champions against the beef breeds. This is the first time we have won a champion of champions.
In the coloured breeds classes Fordwich Saturn Genevive was placed 1st in the cow in milk class and Atley Hill Yellow Pamela was placed 2nd. Genevive went on to win coloured breeds champion and Pamela was awarded reserve coloured breeds champion. Genevive qualified for McLarnons cow of the year competition.
The holsteins performed well in the interbreed compeittion taking 1st place in the group of 3, 1st place in the pair of dairy heifers and Priestland 5417 took 1st in the maiden heifer while Priestland 5446 Shot J Rose took 3rd a reverse position to the holstein classes
